“And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”” -Luke 17:5 NKJV
Wow! This is a powerful verse. The apostles who had seen countless miracles after being taught on forgiving all who sin against them asked Jesus to increase their faith.
If the Apostles needed to ask this, I need to ask this!
Faith comes from God and is a gift. It’s not something I can “muster up” (believe me I’ve tried). No, faith comes from God.
God I ask that you raise up a faith-filled, mountain moving generation. Increase our faith Lord! Increase our faith.
The other part of this is that they already had enough faith to do what they were called to do. People who want more faith are asking that they feel faith. If they lived faith, that would be the point. A powerful story that is overlooked.
Peace
Faith is an action word. If we have faith, we will keep His commandments.
Faith, like love and hope, is a beautiful word. However, while they are all simple to speak, and easy to spell, there is nothing simple or easy about the work that we must put into each one; work that is made easier when God is our ‘foreman.’ They are words that are spoken with casual frequency by many who could use lessons from the Teacher in what their true meaning consists of, and the responsibilities and effort that accompany each.
I’m glad I stopped by. Thanks.
“Faith comes from God and is a gift.” I’ve never heard it out that way, but you are right. And one of the other comments about living faith instead of feeling it has brought insight to me this morning. Thank you!
Hello my brother! I love how you stated the truth about faith. It is not something we can conjure up. Faith truly can only come from our God Who is the Faithful One. One thing is for sure; if we don’t take the time to pray, not just for our needs, not for other people’s needs, but a time that we spend, fellowshipping with the Lord. And if we don’t spend time getting to know the Lord through His word, our faith will wither in time. It is also so important to have fellowship with other believers. These are the culmination of things that help build our faith up, in the Lord. As the scripture in Hebrews says, ” For without faith, it is impossible to please God. He that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
May the Lord bless you and keep you by His Love and the power of His Holy Spirit, paul
